Merry Christmas! Here is our 2012 Christmas tree with all of our ornaments on it and presents underneath. The boys were able to get up in time for us to open presents and have breakfast together before going to Mass. Snacks for lunch and then fondue for dinner. A nice day to relax. May God bless you with a peaceful day.

12 Ornaments of Christmas #12
The last ornament to be showcased this year is a favorite of Ben. It is a little elf like guy blowing a big horn. This was given to me by an old friend, Julie. I have not seen her in many, many years. We travelled to Europe together and in Switzerland, we saw people blowing these big horns. He is a cute little guy. This ends the 12 ornaments of Christmas for 2012. Come back tomorrow for a photo of our tree and all the ornaments. Merry Christmas!

12 Ornaments of Christmas #9
This would be our most unique ornament. The kids think it is very weird but I think it is wonderful. About 23 years ago, my Aunt Lyn received a heart transplant. She was a wonderful lady and an inspiration to be around. Sometime after she had the heart transplant, (I don't know if it was the next year or not), she made ornaments for the family. She had gotten all the clamps used in her surgery. So, she stuck them in styrofoam balls and tied bows around them and gave us each one. Aunt Lyn passed away about 4 years ago; we all still miss her. She was one of a kind also!

12 Ornaments of Christmas #8
Today we have the Grinch. I love the original Grinch cartoon show that would come on every Christmas. I have not been able to watch the newer version with Jim Carrey - from the clips I have seen he just looks too creepy. So, I stick with the old version. I have not watched it yet this year but Dave has been quoting it all week. We just love Max, the Grinch's dog. He is so excited to ride in the sleigh until he realizes he has to pull it. I think my mom gave me both of these ornaments. The bottom one is made from a light bulb so I guess she got it at a craft show. "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch..."

12 Ornaments of Christmas #6
I love today's ornament. I think my friend, Bob, gave it to me before we moved to NC and only had one child. It is a fireplace with stockings hung on it. I was able to turn the stocking around and write our names on them. I love the details of this ornament, Sorry the photo has a bulb right in front of it.

12 Ornaments of Christmas #4
Today's ornament reminds me of a baby Joey wrapped in Christmas lights. Joey was 10 months old; we had decided to move to NC but were not here yet, so this was taken in our old house on Timesweep Lane. This is fitting for today because we just got back from bringing Joey home from his first semester of college. Oh my, how time flies...

12 Ornaments of Christmas #3
Today, I am showing 2 ornaments. they are bother similar and given to me ( and made) by friend and college room mate, Kim Taylor. I know that these ornaments are time consuming to make and hard on the finger tips from pushing all those pins in. I haven't seen Kim in several years but do keep up with her and her family through Facebook. I am thinking of her more than usual this year as she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is preparing for surgery in January.
I like these ornaments because they are sparkly and so cute. They have held up well through the years also.

The Wendt's 12 Ornaments of Christmas 2012 #1
A few years ago, I posted photos of some of my Christmas decorations. This year I have decided to post photos of my tree ornaments - let's see if I can do it for 12 days which will bring us right up to Christmas.
Ornament #1
This ornament is from a former co-worker, Lori Sadler. We spent many Sat. and Sun. afternoons together at Duke. Lori made this ornament and I think she said she used to make them when she was a girl. It is a tiny teddy bear in a pocket made of plastic mesh. I love this little bear mostly because Lori thought enough of me to spend time making it for me and who can resist a tiny teddy bear.
Check back tomorrow...
