One more Cruise 2015 Post

2015 Cruise Grand Turk

Our last port was Grand Turk. We had a great day here. The pier where we docked was right next  to the beach. We went on a helicopter ride around the island. It was a very smooth ride and gave us great views. The whole island is only 8 miles long so the helicopter ride was short - 15 minutes. We saw reefs, a lighthouse, salt ponds and our cruise ship. After the helicopter ride, we stayed at the beach at the heliport for awhile. It was windy but peaceful and empty. We went back to the port area and sat on the beach for awhile. We went to Margaritaville and had some nachos and margaritas.

2015 Cruise San Juan Puerto Rico

Next stop, San Juan, Puerto Rico! It was beautiful sailing into port. We walked around old San Juan  up to one fort and over to another fort. The sky and sea were beautiful. It was hot. After we walked around the old town we stopped for lunch

 in a nice air conditioned restaurant that sold Coca Cola. We ate some Puerto Rican food. I don't know the name but it was ground beef layered with mashed potatoes. It was good. We did a bit of souvenir shopping and headed back to the boat. As we were leaving port the sky opened up and we had quite a downpour.

As you can see we did not go hungry. We started the week ordering one appetizer, one entree and one dessert. By the end of the week, we were ordering 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts.

The Catamaran

We spent the day in St. Thomas on a catamaran trip that took us over to St. John. We had a beautiful day for sailing. We took a wild bus ride over to the marina where the catamaran was docked. The catamaran held about 40 people. The catamaran was anchored off shore from the beach. So, we could snorkel or be on the beach. We snorkeled to the beach took a short rest and swam back to the boat. We had a few of the underwater photos turn out. Look closely for the fish and the sting ray. Then we had a nice sail back to St. Thomas, bus ride and back to the ship. Very nice day.

Half Moon Cay is a tender port which means the ship is docked offshore and we have to take a smaller boat over to the island. This last photo is taken from the balcony in our room.

2015 Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Carnival Glory

Our First stop was the private island, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. It was a beautiful spot with  a white sand beach and clear blue water. We enjoyed the beach and swimming in the beautiful water.
